Delete your account

You can delete your Trail account and the data associated with it at any time. This page exists so the path is plainly documented — it's also linked from the Trail app and from the App Store / Play Store listings as the official deletion route.

Delete from inside the app

  1. Open Trail on your iPhone or Android device.
  2. Go to Settings (the gear icon in the top right of the home screen).
  3. Scroll to Account and tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm. We'll ask you to type DELETE as a final guard against taps.

That's it. The request is queued immediately and you'll be signed out.

Delete by email

If you can't reach the in-app option — you lost your device, forgot your password, or just prefer email — send a deletion request to hi@mytrail.pro from the email address you used to sign up. Include:

  • The email address tied to your Trail account.
  • A line confirming you want the account deleted.

We verify the request comes from the account owner (typically by replying from the same address) and then process it within 5 business days.

What gets deleted

Deleted permanently within 30 days of the request:

  • Your account profile (name, email, sign-in identifiers).
  • All receipts, images, and PDFs you uploaded.
  • All structured data we extracted from them (merchants, amounts, dates, categories, line items).
  • Folders, tags, budgets, rename rules, and preferences.
  • Anything personally identifiable across our active database and object storage.

Retained for a limited period and then purged: minimal logs we're required to keep for fraud prevention, security incident response, and legal compliance. These are not tied to your personal identity once the account is deleted and age out on a rolling 90-day window.

Already shared with AI processors during normal use: the receipt images you scanned. Under our processor agreements, providers do not retain receipt content for model training, but we cannot retroactively remove anything they may have already aged out of their own transient logs.

Timing

  • Immediate: account access is revoked; receipts are removed from the app and from active storage.
  • Within 30 days: data is purged from backups in line with our backup-rotation schedule.
  • Within 90 days: security and fraud-prevention logs age out automatically.

Can I undo a deletion?

No. Once a deletion is processed, the data is unrecoverable — by design. If you're unsure, take an export first (email hi@mytrail.pro and we'll send a JSON / CSV bundle) and confirm you have it before deleting.
